Top 10 songs to listen to after a break up

Posted by: Danielle Rowley on: May 24, 2009

I’m glad you all enjoyed the songs not to listen to after a break-up. However it has been suggested that I don’t leave you hanging, but follow up with songs that will pick you up and make you realise you’re better off without them! That’s right, a list of cheesy pick ups and feel good tunes. Step away from the Ben ‘n Jerry’s and get listening to these…

  1. No song can come close to this one when it comes to break up songs. Grab your girls/lads, get down the karaoke and sing you’re heart out to ‘I will survive’. Gloria Gaynor produced a track which is every drunks way of saying “I’m over you”.
  2. Destiny’s Child’s ‘Survivor’ has all a girl needs to get over a guy. Some of there other tracks such as ‘Independent Woman’ are also a good choice. It really proves that you can live without that man! And then there’s always the videos for the guys…
  3. Please tell me someone else remembers Eamon with ‘Fuck it, I don’t want you back’. This song made me laugh until I almost peed. Why oh why would you release such a song? I guess its just the guys way of letting his man pain out and calling his ex a “hoe”.
  4. What was even funnier and better than Eamon’s pathetic attempt at embarrassing his ex was when she decided to release ‘Fuck You Right Back’. Apparently Frankie was who his song was aimed at, and she was so outraged she sampled his song with her own words. However he did claim he had no idea who she was. She did seem to go a bit far with lines like “But I do admit i’m glad I didn’t catch your crabs” and “Well guess what yo, your sex was wack”. This boys and girls, is an example of how to completely embarrass yourself and seem like a right twat.
  5. Oh Cher, you do believe in life after love don’t you? ‘Beleive’ is a great one for pushing you to moving on, saying “And maybe I’m too good for you” and letting them go.
  6. If your ex was really nasty to you, they will expect you to hate them and talk trash about them. So instead do the opposite and thank them for treating you so bad, cause it made you stronger. This is quite a hard stage to reach, but I’m sure ‘Fighter’ by Christina Aguilera will get you in the right attitude.
  7. It isn’t the best song, but it gets the point across. However I do find it very ironic that the Pussycat Dollz sing ‘I don’t need a man’when clearly, if they didn’t have men they wouldn’t sell many records. I mean… if they weren’t trying to attract men, why ever do they dress like that?
  8. ‘Irreplacable’ is the ultimate “mate, i already have someone lined up” tune. If your dumper thinks they have the better than you, play this track. Chanel all the attitude of Beyoncé and get the point across that you don’t need them, you can do better!
  9. Kelly Clarkson demonstrates how to get back at an ex in the video for ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’. However, I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m sure the end of the video where she gets arrested and charged was cut off.
  10. If you’re trying to pretend it was actually you that dumped them, TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ is the way to go. That’s right, they were just no good, you couldn’t stay with a no good, rotten, cheating bum any longer. You just had to get rid.
